PreSchools & Daycare Options
Practical Recommendations
“El Primero Ciclo” is how the government refers to the stage of children ages 0-3. At age 3, children begin formal schooling. So before “formal” schooling, there are options for daycares and preschools for children this age.
Below is a list of the accredited preschools in Castellon. Some centers are subsidized, so when speaking with them, you can ask for “subvenciones” (subsidies) or “becas” (grants/scholarships). For public centers, demand can be high. Private ones usually offer more flexibility, but it’s best to apply early.
While looking for preschools, we recommend:
- In-person visits: if possible, visit several centers to evaluate the atmosphere, facilities, and educational approach.
- Define your financial and educational priorities (public vs. private, budget, language).
- Know the deadlines
- Ask about financial assistance
